Polo is one of those sports that can look wonderfully graceful and leisurely on the surface, yet contains more than its share of brute strength, tension and fighting spirit. Don’t let those manicured playing fields and tinkling glasses in hospitality fool you: this is serious stuff.
Some of the world’s top players were gathered in Gstaad, in the Swiss Alps last month, for the eighth edition of the Hublot Polo Gold Cup, a three-day event featuring six games, sponsored by Ferrari Garage Zénith SA.
Team Hublot and Team Banque Eric Sturdza met in the final, with China’s Team Hublot winning a closely fought match, 6.5 to 6.
Also on show were two celebrated Prancing Horse convertibles, a Ferrari California T HS and a 488 Spider, adding to the equestrian grandeur of the event, with the 488 recently winning the “Engine of the Year” award.
