On 13th June 2004, the Canadian Grand Prix was held in Montreal. Ferrari tackled qualifying with the race in mind, with the F2004s of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello carrying a heavy fuel load with the idea of making a single stop in the race. As a result, the Italian cars didn’t exactly shine on Saturday, securing only sixth and seventh places.

In the race, the Ferraris rapidly moved up the order, with their strategy seeing them moving up place by place until they were at the head of the order. Michael Schumacher went on to take his 77th win, Ferrari’s 174th.

Barrichello was third at the flag, but a few hours later he was promoted to second, after Ralf Schumacher was disqualified because his brakes did not conform to the regulations. Worth noting for the history books, this was the Scuderia’s 66th one-two finish, while Jenson Button moved up to third in the BAR.
