On 3rd May 1958, the tenth running of the International Trophy took place at the historic Goodwood circuit. The race was run over 50 laps, making it 235.5 kilometres in length. Ferrari entered just one car, a 246 F1 for local hero, Peter Collins.

Pole position went to Roy Salvadori in a Cooper ahead of his team-mate Jack Brabham. Third was Stirling Moss in another Cooper entered by Rob Walker, with Collins fourth on the grid. In the race, Collins was soon in the lead and no one could touch him. However, there was a close scrap for second which went in favour of Salvadori who managed to get the better of the American Masten Gregory in a Maserati.
