On April 30 2012 in Homestead the AIM Autosport Ferrari took its first win in the GT class in the third round of the Grand Am series, in a race heavily affected by rain, which made life difficult for the team and its drivers. The many appearances of the Safety Car wiped out any advantage gained and so the Brumos team Porsche took the lead at first, while the Ferrari driven by Emil Assentato held fourth place. The decisive climb up the order came when Jeff Segal took over at the wheel of the AIM Autosport 458 Grand AM and with a run of spectacular passing moves took the lead before the race was ended prematurely because of the atrocious weather. It was a well deserved win which also saw the AIM team head the championship classification.
