Thirteen years ago today, Luca Badoer finished shaking down the three F2001 cars that Scuderia Ferrari would use in the Australian Grand Prix, due to take place at the Albert Park circuit in Melbourne on 3rd March. The test driver had driven chassis 214 (the spare car,) 215 (Michael Schumacher’s race car) and 216 (Rubens Barrichello’s race car.) In Fiorano that day, it was 6 degrees and raining and so one could say it was a lucky wet shakedown, as Schumacher went on to take pole in Melbourne, winning the race and setting the fastest race lap on the way, thus giving the German the seventh hat trick of the 22 he would go on to score in his career, a record still unbeaten today.
