On 22nd September 2012, in Singapore, Shell and Ferrari celebrated the five hundredth Grand Prix of their sponsorship. The roots of the collaboration between these two prestigious marques date back to the Twenties, when the Anglo-Dutch company supported Enzo Ferrari’s career as a driver. The relationship continued when Ferrari established his eponymous team and has gone on, with the occasional short hiatus, throughout the most successful Formula 1 team’s entire history. This weekend’s race will be the 519th Grand Prix the two companies have been together of which they have won 165.
Last year, in the island state, the F2012s carried a special logo to mark the celebrations, while the 458 Challenge car driven by guest star driver Marc Gene, took part in the round of the APAC series of the Prancing Horse’s one-make championship, with a unique livery to celebrate the 500 Grands Prix.
